| The Northern coastal area of Dalian is undergoing a multi-year renovation. This involves replacing former warehouse and shipping space with commercial and residential areas. Land reclamation from the sea will also expand the coastline boundaries. As a result, Donghai Park and the Haizhiyun Square (Rhythm of the Sea) sculpture are now a kilometer inland. At some point in the future a new park will be created by the new seaside. The area is currently a wasteland until the development projects are completed.
