2009: Daily Dalian Photos

This is the second daily Dalian photo series from SongLi.

The original set of 365 pictures from 2005 (Dalian Photo of the Day) were all taken in that year, and were organized more by topic and geography.

SongLi has opened his image vault again, and this new series uses 365 photos from 2004 to 2008. Each photograph is organized in the corresponding month from those previous years. So all the photos for January were taken in the month of January 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, and/or 2008. Some pictures are matched to the actual dates they were taken.

The general collection offers a unique look at the seasonal environment of Dalian, with the artistic style SongLi is known for. His unique vision brings even simple subjects to life.

New images are posted daily at 8:00 am Dalian Time, (+8 GMT/UTC).

Dalian Photobook by SongLi

Everyday Dalian: Life in Modern Manchuria. A former colony briefly founded by Russia but later developed over two generations by Japan, Dalian has always been a strategic hub for control of Northeast China. SongLi's photography collection about the city and its population has won multiple international awards. Each image captures the richness and color of the modern-day Manchurian metropolis, documenting its transition over six years.

The "slice of life" presentation, a hallmark style of SongLi, offers a new depth to the environments and people living in this historic port. About Dalian Daily Photos 2005

This was the original Dalian Photo of the Day Series by SongLi, covering one full year in 2005 (January 1st to December 31st). All the material was previously published on another blog service, but later removed.

It has been restored in a new home here as an image feed, in connection with photo exhibits by SongLi and Dalian city promotions by DiscoverDalian.com. This year-long series remains one of the most detailed in all of China, and the most extensive to date for the city of Dalian.

Many of the pictures here are also on display in the various photo exhibits by SongLi. Descriptions of these Dalian collections have been dispersed among the photo stream, with direct links to their respective sources.

Photos are watermarked and digitally tagged to help track image theft.
