| The "Mother of God" cross is one of the signature features of the Cemetery of Soviet Martyrs in Lushun. Originally designated to honor fallen Russian solders from the Russo-Japanese War, the cross had a mosaic tile picture of Jesus and his mother, Mary. Historic accounts state that this religious image was destroyed by Chinese troops during the Cultural Revolution. |
